Introduction to Audio Recording I

Create Audio Programs for Your Clients for Ongoing Support

This course will cover principles for sound recording. It will include basics on selecting and positioning a microphone, speakers, audio interfaces, and Digital Audio Workstation program. Students will learn how to install a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) program, setup and use an audio interface and learn techniques for capturing an audio signal, recording, and output. This course is also hands-on. You will be playing with many recording tools and creating your own audio track.

Audio Recording Principles

In this module we explore:

MODULE 2

Monitoring and Output

When you are creating your own audio tracks, it is essential to be able to hear the sound as accurately as possible. Every device has its own advantages and disadvantages. In this module we explore:

  • How speakers work
  • Advantages and disadvantages of different choices for monitoring
  • How to set up your own devices for best results

MODULEĀ 3

Microphones

Sound Wellness practitioners work with sound. When it comes to recording sound and using microphones there are many choices available. Learn the uses for each type of device and what choice is best for your needs.

  • Types of microphones
  • How to set up and use a microphone
  • How to monitor its signal

MODULEĀ 4

Audio Interfaces

Depending on what type of audio you want to create, other devices, or hardware, may be needed. In this module we will be exploring a few of these audio interfaces ā€“ what they do, how they work, and if it would support your own projects. Some examples are your phone, your tablet, your computer, mono or stereo microphones.

MODULEĀ 5

Software

Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) Program

You will downloading and using the free DAW program, Audacity, on your own computer or device for this course. This is the program you will use to edit the audio recording that you create during this course.

  • Installation and setup of Audacity
  • How to monitor audio
  • Creating multitrack files
  • Editing the audio
  • Exporting and sharing
